Panther Social is a social business registered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with the aim to provide opportunities and help improve the lives of people in need.Panther Social was founded on the inspiration to realize a social business put forward during a Social Business Contest held by Professor Muhammad Yunus amongst youth in Bangladesh in early 2011. The idea was using advertising on rickshaws to earn additional income which could then be used to better the lives of some of Bangladesh's poorest and hardest working citizens, the ever so common rickshaw puller. By chance, Panther Social's sister concern, Panther Media, an innovative media agency, was the first company in the country to offer branded rickshaw services, and took the opportunity to convert this operation into a social business. But soon the need for new and more diverse programs and services became apparent and the mission of the business expanded to use the power of media to spread social business, and to create a fund to help create new social businesses. Panther Social is made up of a board of directors from well established and reputed business groups and corporations in Bangladesh, and hopes to achieve a significant impact in shaping the country's future development.
